Kansas Speedway is still preparing for casino benefits
Kansas Entertainment (a partnership between Kansas Speedway and Cordish Co.) withdrew its application hours after it received the necessary final approval from the Kansas Gaming Commission. At the time, Kansas Entertainment was the last person to pull out of a casino development without leaving a competitor behind, so there was much speculation about whether Kansas could take over the casino.
The casino will be built overlooking Turn 2 at the track as part of a $680 million entertainment destination center, and plans to include hard rock-branded casinos, bars, dining and other entertainment facilities with 100,000 square feet of gaming. Final plans will also include hotels, spas, convention centers and retail areas.
The proposal is generally the same as before it was withdrawn, but we plan to phase out more resorts in the current credit market. 파워볼실시간
"We're not going to scale back," said Speedway President Jeff Borger. "The only difference in our proposal is to phase it in. After we do casinos first and all the financial markets turn around, hotels, conference spaces and entertainment will emerge."
Part of the proposal includes a petition by Speedway's parent company, International Speedway, to add a second Sprint Cup race to NASCAR. It will also petition Grand Arm Road Racing to allow sports car racing.
