Sauvons les Serres d'Auteuil

In a Paris, not very rich in green spaces, there is however a wonderful garden labeled National Monument. Open to the general public it houses a unique collection of rare plants in an exceptional example of iron and glass architecture of the 19th century. Shocked and dismayed that an extension of Roland Garros which hosts the French Open for tennis, has been accorded by the City of Paris to build over this prestigious site a stadium I wonder which of the wonders that make up this beautiful city will be next for amputation – the Champs de Mars and it’s Eiffel Tower might make a wonderful football stadium for instance! Business is business but a country such as France should not let their heritage be spoiled and exploited in the name of self interest especially when an alternative exists and would even contribute to easing the ever growing pollution in this capital!
